A doorway is an architectural element that holds great weight. It marks the transition from one world to another. Sometimes we pass through a transparent wall where we can readily see the inside as an extension or transition from the outside to the inside. Sometimes we pass through a wall that is a barrier. Can the door express the tension in our mind about what we are about to experience? Can a door create mystery about what is beyond or behind? Can gravity portray anxiety? Can light beyond give rise to optimism? Does an opaque barrier create division and fear?
