Once upon a time, there existed a city, Vijayanagara with a sacred hill, extending its protection over its surrounding landscape. The natural predatory order, here is reversed. rabbits fighted the hunter dogs and, the people from their enemies. Magnificent temples, slender columns, mandapas with active temple processions, extended thriving bazaar streets, witnessing the trade of diamonds, ruby, pearls, gold... to cows, goat, horses... by foreign & inland merchants. music, art, literature, culture, religious processions, festivals on the streets. travellers, artists, pilgrims, foreign ambassadors... came here to experience the city’s glory. “the city of bidjanagar is such that the pupil of the eye has never seen a place like it, and the ear of intelligence has never been informed that there existed anything to equal it in the world” Abdur Razzaq, Persian ambassador, 1443 C.E. Eclipsed, the 200 year old city, invaded by the Sulthanates, in the battle at Talikota, lead to chaos, bloodshed. looted the city, destroyed the art, and eventually burnt down the entire city. once Prosperous, the city is now in ruins. once celebrated, the capital is now in the dark.
