The piece depicts the Concordia Design and the Baltyk buildings, located at ul. Zwierzyniecka in Poznan, Poland. The first, dating back to the 19th Century, was originally a printing house. Since 2008, after its renovation, holds a regional design center. The latter is a contemporary, multipurpose building conceived by MVRDV office, finished only two years ago, which has unremarkably marked its position within the city architecture panorama. In situ, the contemporary building is the one that undoubtedly draws peoples attention, essentially due to its bold, odd shape and integral glassed facades. However, together with the revitalization of the surrounding area, it creates a magnificent dialogue with the more modest Concordia Design building, framing it with all the strong, geometrical lines and grey, blue tones, thus allowing it to acquire an unexpected emphasis of its position and valorize its detail work and soft tones. The piece was drawn according to a personal artistic vision which emerges in most of my artwork. It consists of multiple one-trace contour lines as a first layer, followed by a selective coloring that intents to valorize both technics involved in the process, as well as to give a sensation of deepness and dynamic that together enhance a sense of movement. The apparent state of incompleteness of the final piece thus forces the viewers to make the effort of imagining the complete image, this way also enabling them to participate in the creation process. Therefore, I intended to express not only the beauty of this perspective and composition but also the binomial relationship between contemporary and preceding architecture, represented by the painted and non-painted areas of the paper. By creating the piece I aimed to express a reflection about the potentialities of this relation to the creation of new scenarios within the urban territory.
