Владивостокская приморская крепость, построенная в конце 19 –начале 20 веков, принадлежала к числу самых мощных в мире для своего времени. Создавалась она знаниями и силами русских военных инженеров, солдат, строителей Эта крепость – уникальный комплекс оборонительных сооружений, вписанный в сложный, пересеченный рельеф. Поэтому, невозможно в одном графическом листе передать весь масштабный замысел такой фортификационной структуры. Таким образом, автор создал эту компиляцию, заведомо сжав пространственный масштаб размещения отдельных элементов (рвов, брустверов, капониров) и отказался от приема коллажа. Эти элементы, как наиболее выразительные, с учетом их фортификационного назначения, взяты из разных фрагментов сохранившегося комплекса – Владивостокская крепость. Введение в композицию мин и старой подводной лодки, ( которым там, понятно, не место), позволяет подчеркнуть морской характер крепости (не без юмора, конечно). Крепость упразднена в 1923 г. P.S. Для меня сооружения этого грандиозного комплекса – реальное воплощение триады Витрувия: «Польза, прочность, красота»

Vladivostok Fortress was a maritime fortress built from 1889 to 1918 and was acknowledged as one of the most powerful fortresses in the world at the time. The fortress — created exclusively by Russian military engineers and builders, soldiers and combat engineers - is a unique complex of defensive structures constructed within a complex mountainous terrain. Given the difficulty of accurately conveying the entire grandiose plan of such a structure in one graphic sheet, the artist has created this compilation by strategically compressing the spatial scale of the placement of individual elements such as ditches, parapets and caponiers, rather than using a collage principle. The elements are the most relevant and expressive parts of the fortress structure and were taken from different fragments of the surviving Vladivostok Fortress. The inclusion in the work of sea mines and an old navy submarine is aimed at emphasising the maritime character of the fortress (and injecting an element of the artists humor and personality). The fortress was abandoned in 1923. P.S. In my opinion construction of this grandiose complex is a true embodiment of Vitruvius’ Triade: firmitas, utilitas, and venustas (utility, strength and aesthetics).
